Meari posts such great instructions!!! I followed her directions and it came out really cute. I neglected to buy the needles the other day when I was at Joann's, so darn it I guess I have to go back... oh well... :)

Now on to Jennifer's baby announcement. I have the first few lines of green filled in on the background and am about to start on Elena's name. I always hate to start that part, because I am nervous that I counted wrong and I will get it done and it will not be balanced. I count and recount and re-recount... probably make it worse than it really is, right? LOL.

I also need to finish up my friend's bookmark, then I think I am going to start my daughter something for her new apartment. I will post photos as I go.

Right now, though, time for bed. Early day tomorrow, being Monday and I have to go to work.

Happy stitching!
Next I will put in the baby's name, fill in around that with the green, then wait for her to arrive so I can add her birthweight. But you know how it goes.. my brother showed up with my niece, out of the blue. What a wonderful surprise! I have seen him only twice in maybe the last three or four years, because he works overseas and when he gets home, he stays home. We gathered all my kids and the grandbabies and had a great time on the lake, laughing and telling stories on each other.

What fun!

Of course, now I am a day behind.. and next weekend will not be any better since a whole different bunch of family is coming to Dallas for my other niece's graduation! I guess I better spend the next few evenings busy busy!

LOL... it was well worth it.

Y'all have a wonderful, stitchy day!Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-58231822235760898022012-05-24T07:22:00.002-07:002012-05-24T07:28:48.875-07:00My apologies to the blogWow. It is already almost the end of May and I have completely neglected this blog. I am sorry. I hereby promise to pay more attention to you. Really.

Let's start with what I am stitching. My friend Jennifer is expecting her first baby in about four weeks, so I am working on a baby announcement for the nursery.

This is the pattern photo:

This is the work in progress. Instead of the blue in the pattern photo, I am considering using this green. Her nursery colors are pink and green. I can't decide if I want a lighter green or not.

One of the things on the top of the list is to give myself more time to stitch and crochet. My kids will tell you that I tend to give THEM more time than I should, so they are encouraging me to find more ME time. I am sure my DH will be happy to hear that, too!

I will spend the next few days looking for new projects. It is actually the Greek name for grandmother (although we are not of Greek descent). When my son informed me that I was going to be a grandma, he stopped and said, "ooooh that sounds funny." And we began searching for the perfect "grandma" name for me. Everyone thinks it fits me, so there you go.Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-14818132635140350902010-12-13T11:46:00.000-08:002010-12-13T11:57:13.459-08:00Weekend with the in-lawsWe went and we survived... don't get me wrong, I love my DMIL, but the FIL, well, I really have to work it with him. Crazy things happened at the office (layoffs) and since then we've all been trying to adjust and they've moved us all around and it's been a very stressful time. Looks like we're getting back to normal....

And then my mom ends up in the hospital. She has COPD, a very nasty disease that basically robs her of her breathing without help. It's getting worse and last night she was admitted to the hospital again. Please send up prayers for her.

Just wanted to touch base with those of you who follow this. I will try to be more active here.

I am still stitching off and on, and trying to finish a scarf for my friend Jennifer. I will post pictures.

TTFN!Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-72560809684153601092010-02-25T11:14:00.001-08:002010-02-25T11:15:25.594-08:00SFAC quilt square completedIt's done. My heart goes out to those who do not. It was the most awful Wed, Thurs and Friday in my recent memory. Lots of tears and hugs; I am not going to dwell on it... need to move forward!

I did not get any stitching done over the weekend. I had planned to devote Saturday to my WIPS, but DS and DDIL let me know that the car had died (again) and she was stranded on her way to work. They only have the one car that works (most of the time) so he had no way to go rescue her. Fortunately DH of a friend of mine was willing to help out so I kept the grandbabies while DS and friend's DH went to take DDIL to work then try to get the car started. They were able to get it back to friend's house where he looked and looked and did this and that - could not find a thing wrong with it. Girls finally went home at about 8pm Saturday night. I took it to Firestone on Sunday and THEY couldn't find anything wrong with it. We have decided the car is possessed and/or does not like DDIL. It only seems to die on her, on her way to work.

DS has a second car that is currently not running, so friend's DH came over to see if he could get that one running. I had to babysit again so they could focus on car (DDIL works and for now DS is stay-at-home dad). So bottom line is that I was not able to stitch.

Tonight I have decreed NO EMERGENCIES unless they see bones or blood. I so hope that I get to work on something, anything!

My prayers go out to xs friend Terry!

TTFN.Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-83388989736747146692010-02-09T12:01:00.000-08:002010-02-09T12:04:08.636-08:00Got another HAED patternI am starting small, I know.. I used my $5.00 GC to buy a storykeep. I stumbled on this one and I do not know where. It is not in the regular list of SK's.

I have a friend who reads a lot and "envies" all my cross-stitch goodies, and since I have never made her anything, this will be a good something.

Flower Fairy Rest

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 85px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIEdoLoSwE0Exwj6CtFg1CEcdtwhOZa-3xzCH0YK23641cXVLHN6xVuJEk7USKw6KJOp8yGiZUhlTlo2X_q1_LZ1x65nlmhsl8WqIuOIFCNPxB_MDFl9VthCghCZidWId3JXtz6YgM9wM/s400/Flower+Fairy+Rest.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436336658612514162" />Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-28182089899454566472010-02-09T10:12:00.000-08:002010-02-09T10:14:31.680-08:00Another finish - this one is all mine!I finished the crocheted scarf for my friend's granddaughter. I hope it's long enough, but Kae says it will be since she is only six. I told her I can easily add more length to it if necessary. I used Lion Brand Fun Fur in "Tropical" because she loves pinks and purples.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaCT0cR8ybPImc_KiM0a_mTYZ9CH6_j_YnCB70w_Odl6QjZNhfWr6SP7y_bAjB8QI5PBIb7aFgFv5NOiFNmm7kPtktiz6zakaQ0RXydPr74uBP1n8CQfBSpNu7ouEuIqXLFtLs7GK-wRs/s400/scarf+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436308531786563138" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQo_fwl6co_6QLxPDG5xkgnu56zC2zo9tOu0r6TpFzrXLNwyWZuoTWoU0bY9iYmggieYOqKHELR35bHFW1yhxNiZeOApTA80B4ETHrGcjv-ksp_lKB8aYjsYmcaxSnkqv_hxKNdxAI7aA/s400/scarf+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436308521708628562" />Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-68730757962044898992010-02-08T11:26:00.000-08:002010-02-08T13:06:42.453-08:00Trying to RECUPERATE!I had the girls on Friday and Saturday nights - and the younger one is waaaay off on her sleeping schedule. Or something. She went to bed at 9:30 pm, then was up and wide awake at 3:08am!!! We sat in the rocker and every time her breathing would start getting even like she was going out again, she would sit straight up in my lap and say DAAAA! and wake herself up again. I crawled back into my bed at 5:48am! Had to be up by 7:30am, not much sleep. Then we did it all over again on Saturday night. I have already told mom and dad that Yaya is old now and can only do without sleep ONE night per weekend. I was a total zombie most of Sunday. Coffee did not help much.

I did, however, find the energy after they went home to sit down and at least get seven stitches in my HAED Butterfly, and a bit done on the Stitching for a Cure quilt block for Donna. It is going very quickly; it's a very easy stitch!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij75_wJ5ePXaspwDP0wFR9uAFZcB7H5wKJ9ej5O_AsvmSKSC8zL-ODtXspLD2HiiMeqqeJ08Mhh_G1B6a6vUkX2-RadxKksdYjfzJ93JzgzZEqy4D3UNO3HyBVmJdtbedR-FOMjmQgDo8/s400/xs.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435981748788364610" />

I have figured out something of a rotation schedule for all my projects. Mindy's Never the Same on Monday eves, Brotherly Love on Tuesday (I get home later on Tues and Thursdays so less time to stitch), Madi's birth announcement on Wed eve and Kryssie's chinese characters on Thursdays. I will save the SFAC quilt square for the office at lunch and work on my butterfly on the weekends.

Now let's just see how good I am at keeping the plan working! LOL..

Back to work now...y'all have a wonderful day!
TTFN!Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-37209991609624779732010-02-05T06:31:00.000-08:002010-02-05T06:35:09.030-08:00Sort of First FinishI started these, then a friend finished them, then I added the names and dates. So I am counting it as a "shared" finish for 2010.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPghmd-XwhYxe_vEh6w3U5cuCcIfRgNPjOdYHmYiRhX9TRLn1FyXuM0TZ8A_G8XnpVxLa3CesmM7ujMBC5ZQ3BPuCYdk2v0lhZ23-JBx6lCI9yTTDkxuG9fkSx7_8KGc-WSQ3J-BgT_BY/s400/michaels+boys.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434767488931195666" />

Now to frame them, simple 5 x 7 frames, and get them in the mail. I didn't get a whole lot done, but five stitches done is still five stitches done! Okay, so I did more than five stitches, but you know what I mean.

I worked on Brotherly Love and Never the Same. I also have two birth announcements that quite frankly I had forgotten about, mostly because I started them and someone else finished them for me because I ran out of steam... really fell "out of love" with them. I am now in the process of adding the names and birthdates to them, then I will post a picture. They are really very cute and they are for someone again associated with my Mom in the nursing home. Her therapist is Michael and they are great friends, so she asked me to stitch something for him. Since he is married, it would have been awkward for me, so I picked the two birth announcements for his two boys. You'll see...

Anyway, I feel like I am getting somewhere on a couple of pieces that have been gathering dust, so I just thought I would share.

TTFN!Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-12990119493520800292010-02-01T10:15:00.000-08:002010-02-01T10:19:50.070-08:00Is it Monday already!Wow, that was some fast weekend! Seems like I spent most of it in the car driving somewhere. Yeesh!

I did not get any stitching done at all, and very little crocheting. I managed to get a few rows done while sitting in the church nursery. Oh well, there's always tonight.

So I got a fortune cookie that TOLD me to start something new! It said "A good time to start something new." Right! And the other one that nobody wanted said "Versatility is one of your outstanding traits" which tells me that I can do more than one thing at a time. It's karma!

I am thinking about this one:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 314px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIgVk5mTL6qkiYMbDX3RFqC9eAt7gJWOSxHOJC1lqaB2NQBqahR9A6SDNzNKSrMU_g3pWGqGIgp0Hk7blpZCGNSd6lAS3aVwha6ju0BgcJT95kQYIE3kPqxxzm9C4at0u-G6OodThzgFQ/s320/serenity+prayer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433339775564705298" />

I do love purples, but I am not crazy about the florals and bunnies etc. I may find a different Serenity and give this one away. We'll see.

Back to work for now. Y'all have a great week!
TTFN.Laura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989804174701371285.post-86704076811116486562010-01-29T10:41:00.000-08:002010-01-29T10:48:42.658-08:00I need some CHEESE for my WHINEI am just so jealous. Seems like everyone but me has time to stitch. I work M-F 8-5 with a one hour commute each way, so my stitching time is limited to after dinner when I get home and on the weekends in between cleaning the house and doing laundry on the weekends when I don't keep the babies. That isn't much time. I see all you guys just zooming along and I have to be satisfied with a few stitches here and a few stitches there...

waaaaah! Can I clone me or something! LOL... Now that I've got my stitching bug back I can't find much time to nurture him.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 116px; height: 111px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqs1hL1GVwcdyMVAHLeL6YkOemruTb12crkffY8l0Y4aXjcmk_aD_kc0gxGB7bpDYEVQvuqpI1_93_vTt0R0d-67sy2BGx2XxTrPCg-MWPX5nQw11D1keZ5940XFGHXUgSiGG1N6v9v7c/s320/stitching+bug.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432235247676673106" />

Oh well, I will do the best I can to keep up with you guys! One stitch at a time, right!

TTFNLaura aka Yayahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12957284163588657503noreply@blogger.com3
